The Mandrill is considered an Old World monkey, which means it belongs to a primate family scientifically known as Cercopithecidae. The world’s largest primate family, Cercopithecidae features 138 species along with 38 genera. In addition to the Mandrill, other popular Old World monkeys include the Baboon, Macaque, Langur, and Mangabey. Today, Old World monkeys are most commonly found in Asia and Africa in a range of environments including rainforests and mountains.
All 2022 1 oz Cameroon Mandrill Coins were produced by Scottsdale, a private mint located in Arizona. The coins represent the 3rd design in the Mandrill Series, which launched in 2020. Each piece is recognized as legal tender in the Republic of Cameroon, which has issued all previous coins in the series as well. Upon arrival, you will find your coin in a protective plastic capsule.
The obverse of 2022 1 oz Mandrill Silver Coins features the Republic of Cameroon coat of arms. Adopted in 1998, this emblem includes a pair of crossed fasces and a shield decorated with the Scales of Justice. The obverse also features inscriptions of the coin’s denomination and release year.
On the reverse of 2022 1 oz Cameroon Silver Coins, a Mandrill is depicted. In this all-new design, the monkey is shown in closeup as it bears its teeth. The reverse also features a stylized jungle backdrop and inscriptions of the coin’s weight, purity, and metal type.
